Summertime

"Summertime and the living is easy." Summer term has been my favorite for the past two years. Something about the sun being up all the time, having classes that start and end before you even know how to pronounce your professor's name correctly, and constantly being in the pool just makes life so wonderful.  I'm not sure if this summer has beat last summer but it is absolutely fantastic thus far. We had a mud fight! The construction next to our complex has just been absolutely ridiculous. They take up the entire street when they are there with the parking. They leave us notes on our door that say they are pouring concrete at 4 AM (which I think is against the city noise ordinance) and apologizing for the inconvenience. So we decided to enjoy the construction for once and we had a mud fight.  (For those of you who are wondering, the mud did come out of my white shirt). I've learned how to longboard. It all started because all of my friends began longboa...

One year down

Last year ago today I moved into my new apartment. That's such a crazy thought. The past year has definitely been an exciting one. It all started out last summer. I don't think anything can even hold a candle to how amazing last summer was. Almost everyone that I was close with last summer were people who were brand new to my life. There have been two times in my life that I have had this totally new start in a city where you basically know no one. The first was when I went to Virginia. The second was last summer. In a lot of ways, both of these experiences have provided a marvelous opportunity--an opportunity to be whoever I wanted to be. Anyway, the summer was amazing. Full of new friends and really fun times. Then fall semester began. In the distance, there was the looming threat of my application to the journalism major. One of the major components of the application was my grades in three of my classes. It was definitely intimidating to think about. But, fall semes...

Soapbox Time: Love is a choice.

Alright, I don't often get on my soapbox... Well okay, maybe I do. But this is a thought I have wanted to blog about for quite some time so you get to be my lucky listening ear. I feel like the #1 topic of conversation with my friends over the past year has been dating in some way or another. I hate it when I hear girls say that they aren't pretty enough for a certain guy or when they say that there is something wrong with them. There isn't. The truth of the matter is love is a choice. I don't think I would be alone in saying that love is one of the most powerful forces in the world. In fact, I know it.    "Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible - it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could." -Barbara de Angelis " I believe in the compelling power of love. I do not understand it. I believe it to be the most fragrant blossom ...

The Daily Small Miracles

Today I was walking home from class. I was sending a text message so my head was down when suddenly I heard the sound of screeching brakes. I look up to see a big van collide with a cyclist. The cyclist flew off his bike and landed on the windshield of the car. The windshield was totally shattered. The bike practically snapped in half. But somehow the guy seemed pretty okay. Maybe he was in shock so he did not realize how much pain he was in. I was grateful to see he was alive! I am telling you, the Lord is always watching and he protects us with His daily small miracles.

I am in love with this weekend. There are those weekends that literally wear you out and you start Mondays more drained than you were on Friday. Then there are weekends like this weekend that are just lovely. I went on a super fun date on Friday. Then I just sat around with my roommates. I love living with people and just having those moments where you sit around and do nothing but are still just perfectly happy with it. Draper Temple today. Absolutely beautiful inside and out. (Secretly I might have a new favorite temple, don't tell the others). Skyped the best friend Marie. :) Just happy. Too happy to form complete sentences... haha.

Short Goodbyes for Long Times

One day I will say that I update my blog more regularly and actually will. Today I said goodbye to Greg Elder Williams for the next two years. I guess in my mind I pictured me getting very emotional about it and crying as I gave him one last hug. But it wasn't like that at all. We played some games this morning and then we took him to the MTC. We got out of the car and I gave him a hug and I said, "Ha! I get to be the last girl to hug you for two years!" And he said "I love you." And I said "I love you too." And that was all. I'm just really excited for him. I'm not really sad that he'll be away from me for two years (even though hands down these two years are bound to be super eventful). It'll probably hit eventually that he's gone for two years, but for now I'm just really happy for him.
