My Summer in 337 Words

I have been trying to write this blog post for forever. I have been trying to explain how wonderful the last month of my life has been but to be honest it is impossible for me to put into words. So, I've made a list of some of the things I've done this summer that have just made me extraordinarily happy. Tubing! Bonfire :) Troping! National Cheesecake Day Watching Despicable Me on Capitol Hill  Going for a run and then jumping in a pool Hammock chats Countless movie nights Going to the Bishop's Storehouse Donating blood Playing croquet Seeing Thor, X-Men, and Montecarlo at the dollar theater Temple trips Spending time on the roof  Giant Slip 'n Slide But in the end, the best part of my summer was just meeting all of the people I've met. I really don't know how I got so lucky to have them in my life. When I think of how to describe my summer to people it's not events or days that come to my mind. It's all about the peo...

“Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God.” -Joseph Smith

I don't even know where to start this blog post. I am officially in love with Utah. I didn't think it would happen. I thought that part of my heart would always be in Virginia and I would only be able to like Utah. I'm not saying Virginia has replaced Utah. It never will. My experience there was so great. But there is just something about Utah. There is just something about this place that brings me such joy. Actually, there isn't just something. There are so many things. The Joseph Smith statue I mentioned in a former blog post. So many wonderful things are going on in my life right now. I guess chronologically is the best way to go... so... here we go! Harry Potter Seven Part Two. Oh..my...goodness! This was my favorite Harry Potter movie yet by far. I think that previous Harry Potter movies have just been a lot of fun. But this movie was so much more. I think that this movie had overarching themes. It was just so good.  I absolutely love midnight premi...

"This is beyond anything I have imagined." -Albus Dumbledore

First of all, I am absolutely stoked to see Harry Potter! I have totally scheduled my midterms around the midnight premiere. Hahaha I took one today, I am taking one tomorrow, and the other one I am taking on Monday.  School is so wonderful. The past four days have been so great. It all started out on Sunday. I started the day out just kind of in a bad mood. I really missed Virginia. I went to church and then took a nap and then my day totally changed.  I went over to my friend Emily's apartment and we played this super fun card game called Bohnanza. Anyone who knows me knows I love games and I seriously think I might have to add this one into my collection. The game basically consists of planting beans, trading beans, and selling beans.  After that we watched Muppets from Space. Can I just say that I am super excited for the new Muppets movie to come out? Oh and I am also really excited to see the Winnie the Pooh movie. :) I love children's movies. They're just the bes...

"For I have made it a subject of prayer, and I firmly believe that it is the will of the Lord that I should go. If there is a work for me to do in this thing, I am determined to attend to it.” -Oliver Cowdery

The quote for this blog came from my reading for my Doctrine & Covenants class and I absolutely love it. When I read it I just thought it applied perfectly to my life. Going anywhere new is a hard experience for me. It takes me a while to feel comfortable around people. But, I know in my heart that this is where I am supposed to be. I have prayed about it time and time again and I just know it. But just because I know this is where I am supposed to be doesn't mean it's been easy. I am finally getting to the point though where I am actually starting to like it here. I no longer ache to return to SVU every minute. I am meeting some amazing people here and I have no doubt that I am going to meet more people as time goes on. Apartment picture time!  Everything about my new place is wonderful. :) My roommates are great. It is really close to campus. It is just the perfect place. Bedroom Bathroom Living Room Kitchen I am taking three classes this summer: gener...

“As children of God, knowing of His great love and His ultimate knowledge of what is best for our eternal welfare, we trust in Him." -Dallin H. Oaks

Wow it's been a long time since I blogged. Pretty much my life has been crazy busy for the past three weeks. While I was still in Colorado I went to the Denver Botanic Gardens with my best friend Kaitlyn. It was such a beautiful place! I absolutely loved it. I also was called as Ward Camp Director. Girl’s Camp was so crazy. I never realized how much work the leaders do. As a youth Girl’s Camp was always the highlight of my summer. This past time it was  a lot of work though still enjoyable. The coolest experience of the week was on Thursday night. Typically up at camp we have done an Iron Rod experience. A rope is tied through various places in the forest and you walk by yourself blindfolded on it until you come to the very end with a picture of the Savior. This year they decided to do something different. What we did was called, “A Walk with the Savior.” The girls were blindfolded. There was a narration and music played and as the music described parts of the Savior’s life ...

“One measure of friendship consists not in the number of things friends can discuss, but in the number of things they need no longer mention.” -Clifton Fadiman

So I have been home for two weeks now. This past week, even though it has had some serious negative aspects, has been absolutely wonderful. I got the stomach flu on Tuesday/Wednesday which was just miserable. In addition to that, my hard drive randomly stopped working. I lost all of my data which stinks. I am now missing all of my pictures between 2009-present that aren't on Facebook.  Thankfully, a lot of the ones from 2010-2011 are on Facebook.  Anyway, despite those two things, my week has been so magnificent! My best friend Marie was home from for a week. Marie goes to college in Minnesota and this summer she has an internship in Wisconsin.  Her parents are also moving to another city in Colorado which is two and a half hours away from me. So it was Marie's only week in Colorado and her only week actually being home. So we had a TON of fun together. Let me give you some background on Marie's and my friendship. Marie and I both have older brothers who are the sam...
